Singer-turned-evangelist Junaid Jamshed is no more! The pop icon who defined the 90`s era in Pakistan. Though he left music in 2004 and devoted himself to preaching, yet, to a generation before this one, Jamshed was a voice who convincingly expressed the emotional ups and downs that many young Pakistanis went through in the 1990s.

“The 1990s were a patchy decade. It had an exciting and expectant beginning, an uncertain middle and a stormy ending. Junaid sang through it all and as if his voice, words and music were being directly navigated by the topsy-turvy motion of the decade.” – Nadeem Farooq Paracha (Dawn)

Junaid gained recognition and stardom as the lead vocalist of the one of Pakistan`s finest pop acts – the Vital Signs which was founded in 1986 by Rohail Hayat and Shahzad Hassan.

Though he is remembered for his heart touching songs lik ‘Aitbear’ and ‘Yeh Sham’, he gave us some memorable patriotic numbers including the ever green ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ – the unofficial national anthem of the country. Here are some of the most memorable patriotic numbers sung by Junaid Jamshed during and after his music career.

You will be missed JJ! Here are the ever green songs!

1) Dil Dil Pakistan

Where it all began! This song needs no introduction.

2) Do Pal Ka Jeevan

3) Hum Hain Pakistan

4) Maula

5) Dil Mangey

6) Aisay Hum Jiyain

7) Tu Hai Kahan

8) Yehi Zameen

9) Qasam Us Waqt Ki

10) Chand Sitara (with Salman Ahmed)

 11) Tum Say Hi Ay Mujahido (with Soch the band)

12) Pak Watan (with others)

Thank you Junaid Jamshed for the beautiful memories!
